MindSpark Tutors is excited to offer a series of 6-week summer preview courses designed to help students build confidence and strengthen foundational skills before the upcoming school year.
These courses are designed to provide a strong foundation rather than replicate an entire year-long class. Core topics and prerequisite skills will be taught in depth to ensure students begin the school year prepared for success. More advanced topics will be introduced in a survey format, allowing students to become familiar with key concepts and terminology before encountering them in their classes.
By the end of the program, students will have a stronger academic foundation, increased confidence, and a head start on the material they’ll see in the fall.
Chemistry Preview | June 30 – Aug 6 | Tuesdays & Thursdays | 9 – 11 am | Demetra & Manasi
Our Chemistry Preview course is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals that form the backbone of high school and AP Chemistry. Students will develop a strong understanding of scientific notation, dimensional analysis, unit conversions, atomic structure, periodic trends, chemical bonding, and molecular geometry. The course will also introduce chemical reactions, balancing equations, stoichiometry, solutions, gas laws, and thermochemistry. By the end of the course, students will be better prepared to approach chemistry with confidence and a stronger conceptual framework to build off of once the school year starts.
TJ AP CS Preview | July 7 – Aug 15 | Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 pm & Saturdays 10 am-12 pm | Vishana
This course reintroduces students to the fundamental programming concepts covered in AP Computer Science while building logical thinking and problem-solving skills. As TJ’s version of this course is more data-structures driven, students will review the basics of Java programming, and then quickly move to principles of data structures. Additional AP topics and exam-style questions will be introduced to familiarize students with the broader curriculum. Students will leave the course with practical programming experience and a strong head start for TJ’s AP CS course.
Physics Preview | July 11 – Aug 16 | Saturdays 9 – 11 am & Sundays 6 – 8 pm | Finn
This course provides students with an introduction to the core principles of physics while emphasizing problem-solving and analytical thinking. Students will learn how to work with units and vectors, analyze motion, interpret graphs, apply kinematic equations, and solve projectile motion problems. The course will also introduce Newton’s Laws, free-body diagrams, energy conservation, momentum, collisions, and basic rotational motion. As physics often challenges students to apply mathematical concepts in new ways, particular attention will be given to developing strong problem-solving strategies and physical intuition. Students will enter the school year with greater confidence in both the mathematics and reasoning skills required for success in physics.
AP Calculus Preview | July 3 – Aug 2 | Fridays & Sundays | 10 am – 12 pm | Richa
Our AP Calculus Preview course helps students transition smoothly from precalculus into one of the most demanding mathematics courses offered in high school. Students will review critical topics including functions, trigonometry, logarithms, and exponentials before being introduced to limits, continuity, derivatives, and integrals. The course will also explore common applications of calculus such as optimization, related rates, and motion problems. Essential foundational topics will be taught thoroughly, while later units and BC-specific topics will be introduced more broadly.
General Information
Course Pricing
1 on 1 pricing: cost varies by tutor and subject – email us mindsparktutors@gmail.com
Course pricing is determined by final enrollment and group size.
To ensure every student receives meaningful individualized attention, all courses are limited to 2–4 students.
Enrollment will be finalized shortly before courses begin. Depending on final enrollment, a course may run as either a semi-private group (2 students) or a small group (3–4 students). Families will be notified of the final group size and pricing before the start of the program. For popular courses, we will distribute students evenly into groups with different tutors to maintain class sizes and keep schedules consistent.
A non-refundable $150 deposit is required to reserve a spot upon enrollment, and the remainder of the payment will be due 4 days prior to course start. Unfortunately, no refunds will be granted after payment is complete barring extenuating circumstances as determined by the co-founders.
